BEADS

Beads. I love crafts and art. God has placed a burden in my heart for orphan children. What amazes me is that God can take something I really like doing and orchestrate a meeting in another country, with another woman, who enjoys the same thing. A woman who was already making handmade jewelry and paper beads. She wasn't just making jewelry for the fun of it. She was doing it to support orphan children. Her name is Ruth.

Ruth has a story to tell. It is my hope that you will someday get to hear it. She has had a difficult childhood. She lived as an orphan in Uganda. The Lord has taken her deep pain and her difficult story, transformed it, and used it to place a desire in her and give her a vision, in bringing HOpe to orphans.

We met the family of Ruth during our first month in Uganda. It was a meeting orchestrated from above. Fred, Ruth, and thier brother,Henry, have become friends. Not only friends, but family. Two weeks ago, Chris was in the village of this family. They wanted him to come as they had something exciting to share. Their father began to share that they see us and love us as family. That they all consider Chris as their first born. They then preceeded to show him a large piece of land that their family wanted to give to our family. We were so humbled, so thankful, and so surprised.

Making Loofahs- the material they are made from grows right from a vine in their village!

Back to beads. Ruth and I have been able to work together to create new ideas and ways to make jewelry and other craft items. While this has been fun, the best part of it all has been the time we have had together talking, laughing, and sharing.  What is so exciting is that when my sister came in February, she was moved to support Ruth and her family in this vision. She has begun creating a market in America for Ruth to send her jewelry on a monthly basis!  Bless a child (BACO) is an official registered CBO within Uganda. Their goal is to continue supporting orphan children with education and basic needs while pointing them to the one who gives them true hope. Their prayer is to acquire a specific piece of land that would enable them to create family style homes for children who have no other options.

This family has blessed us beyond measure. We have learned so much from them. Their love for the hurting, the orphan, and the lost spills over into their lives. We look forward to seeing how the Lord will work through our families to accomplish His desire; that children are loved and their needs met. Whether near or far, with God, all things are possible.

Let the little children come to me........  Matthew 19:14
