Hospitality

Our home sold the day after we returned home from our vision trip to Uganda in November 2011. The timing was perfect....except we didn't know where we would be moving our family of 6. Friends of ours had mentioned someones basement a couple times but that was our last resort. However, when our other options were not looking so good and our friends brought it up again, we decided to check it out.

Wendy met us at the door with a huge smile, showed us the basement (which doesn't exactly look like a basement) and shared how they had finished their basement for the purpose of filling it with people that needed a place to stay..whether missionaries or other situations of need. They prayed God would fill it and He has done just that.

Tonite,we just finished a kick-ball game with the Cheek family. Their family might look a little different than what you might think of as a 'typical family' they have a family of 6 (us), their 2 bio children Kaedyn and Camden (14 and 15), a sweet little 8 month old foster baby, and a 15 year old boy, Monquel, who is hopefully moving from the Saint Johns Group Home in G.R. to stay here also. This family has loved 34 foster children over the years and has had several families live in their basement. This home is a place that you will not leave the same person after staying here. You will understand what it is to be hospitable....to have an open door for those in need.... to love even when it is hard and what it is to be a steward of the blessings God has blessed you with.
